KINDRED: THE EMBRACED
"We're all around you".

Vampire legends have been present in almost every culture around the world for thousands of years. Myths about the "undead" abound in literature from ancient Egypt to the 14th century Slavic empire (Vlad Dracula). Vampires - or Kindred, as they call themselves - take many different forms, from red-eyed monsters in China, to foxes in Japan. According to one famous Kindred myth, the first vampire was Caine, the old Testament brother, cursed by God for murdering his only sibling. This story, which is fueled by actual scripture from the Book of Enoch, has Caine being transformed into a vampire and exiled from his people.

This fascination with vampires is still alive and well today. It is evident in the ambundance of books, movies and interactive games on this perennially popular topic. KINDRED: THE EMBRACED is based on the book Vampire: The Masquerade by Mark Rein-Hagen. The embrace is a term used to describe how humans are turned into vampires: a vampire consumes al the blood from its prey, then returns a bit of his own immortal blood to the drained body, thus turning the mortal into the undead. They story of Kindred: The Embraced traces what happens when five of the thirteen clans of Caine's offspring are let loose on modern-day San Francisco, turning unsuspecting humans into the embraced.

The San Francisco clans are each under the leadership of its Primogen
and they are all ruled by a Prince.
